Complete form-filling guide

How to Apply for Government Jobs

Filling the form is easy if you follow the right steps. This guide covers every government job's online application — SSC, UPSC, Railway, Banking, Police, and more.

Always verify eligibility, dates and other details from the official notification before applying.

Important: Every job's form is filled only on its OFFICIAL website. SarkariUpdates.live never fills forms and never takes money. The steps below are a guide only.

Form bharna — step by step

1

Read the official notification first

The notification PDF contains eligibility, age limit, fee, dates and documents — read it fully before filling the form, or you may be rejected.

2

Check your eligibility

Age limit, qualification and category must all match before you proceed. Applying in the wrong category can disqualify you.

3

Register on the official portal

Register with a valid email and mobile number. An OTP will arrive — never share it. Note down your login ID and password.

4

Fill the application form

Fill name, DOB, category, education and address exactly as per your documents. Avoid spelling or DOB mistakes.

5

Upload photo, signature & documents

Photo and signature must be in the correct size/format (see specs below). Scan documents clearly.

6

Pay the application fee

Pay the fee via net banking, UPI or debit/credit card. Save the receipt or transaction ID — the form won't submit without payment.

7

Review & submit

Review everything in the preview, tick the declaration and submit. Changes are not allowed after submission (only during the correction window).

8

Save application number & print

After submitting you get a Registration/Application Number — screenshot and print it. This number is needed for admit card and result.

Documents you usually need

Photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, Driving Licence)
10th/12th marksheet (DOB proof)
Degree / diploma certificates
Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) if applicable
Passport-size photo & signature (digital)
Email ID & active mobile number
Bank details / UPI for fee payment
Experience / NOC certificates (if required)

Photo & signature specifications (typical)

  • Photo: recent passport-size, white/light background
  • Format: JPG/JPEG (some forms accept PNG)
  • Size: usually 20–50 KB (photo) & 10–20 KB (signature)
  • Dimensions: ~200×230 px photo, ~140×60 px signature
  • Signature: black/blue ink on white paper, clear scan

Exact size is always written in the form's instructions — follow that.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Applying at the last minute — the server may be slow or down.
  • Wrong photo/signature size — the upload will fail.
  • Name/DOB spelling mismatch with documents
  • Paying the fee but not doing the final submit.
  • OTP / login password kisi ko share karna
  • Applying on a fake website — always use the official link.

After applying — what next?

Save your application number / registration slip.
Wait for the exam date — download the admit card when it is released.
Regularly check this site's Admit Card / Result sections.
