A total of 1,172 posts of Headmaster in non-government aided secondary schools are advertised - 1,037 posts in boys' schools and 135 posts in girls' schools. Online registration opened on 23 October 2026 and closes on 22 November 2026; the fee-payment deadline is the same day and the application correction window closes on 25 November 2026. The written examination is scheduled for 7 January 2027. The advertisement is OTR-based. Applicants need a postgraduate degree with at least 50 per cent marks and a B.Ed. or B.P.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognised programme. Experience is mandatory: four years as a Lecturer or Assistant Teacher in classes 9 to 12 at a recognised institution, or four years as Headmaster of a Junior High School, with the certificate issued by a competent authority. The minimum age is 30 years and the upper limit is the retirement age of 62 years, counted as on 1 July 2026. The application fee is Rs 1,500 for every category. The pay level is Level 10 in the Rs 56,100 to Rs 1,77,500 range. Male candidates can be considered only against the boys' school vacancies, while female candidates may choose either category, though only one. Selection is through a written examination of 120 questions carrying 360 marks with a negative marking of one mark per wrong answer, followed by an interview of 40 marks, and document verification.
